Should Christians eat pork (pig meat)?
I answered this question twice this week, so it’s worth sharing.
I hear people don’t eat pork because Jesus permitted demons to enter a herd of swine. Why would anyone not eat pork because of that?
It’s like saying that we shouldn’t eat figs because Jesus cursed a fig tree.
The pigs that got possessed by demons ran violently down a steep hill, into the lake and choked to death; they did not reproduce; they did not meet with any other pigs; so how did it become wrong to eat pigs?
1 Timothy 4:4-5 says, “For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving; for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.”
There’s nothing that is unclean spiritually. You may choose not to eat anything for health reasons, not for spiritual reasons.
