James 5:16 – 18
We discussed praying without ceasing, last week. But, praying is not a problem for some, receiving is the problem. Is it possible to pray and receive answers all the time? Does the Bible contains answers to this question?
James 5:16-18 says, “Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” James 5:16 KJV
Effectual is from the Greek word, “energeo”. Energeo is “energy put forth from within in effectual operation.” So, the prayer that is guaranteed to work is prayer prayed with divine energy from within!
Ephesians 3:20 talks about this energy. It says that God is “able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.” You see, there’s power in us, and we must learn to use it in prayer.
Mere recitation of prayers, or praying religiously with your head, will not produce the desired results. Apostle Paul said to pray with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit! (Ephesians 6:18). Praying in the flesh will not achieve anything; praying in the Spirit will.
The Greek word, “pray in” means, “by means of”, “with the help of”, “in the sphere of”, and “in connection to”. Romans 8:26 says that the Holy Spirit helps our infirmities in prayer. When you pray in the Spirit, your prayers are answered because you will have prayed according to the will of God.
