The Simplicity In Christ
“He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?” Micah 6:8 NKJV
People have wrong opinions about God: many people think of Him as someone who’s very difficult to please. And not many preachers and teachers teach the truth about God and the things He desires. Contrary to what a lot of people believe, God doesn’t demand from us what we cannot do. Amazingly, God doesn’t only tell us what to do, He also empowers us to do His will – He works in us both to will of His good pleasure!
1 John 5:3 says that God’s commandments are not burdensome. The Amplified Version says that His commandments and His precepts are not difficult [to obey]. People met Jesus and asked Him, “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?” They must have been expecting a long list of dos and don’ts, but Jesus said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.” Just believe!
2 Corinthians 11:3 talks about the simplicity that is in Christ. It’s something that you and I must be grateful for. We only struggle to please God when we are trying to please Him in, or, by the flesh; but when we walk in the Spirit we realize that there’s really nothing easier than doing God’s will and pleasing Him.
