“But if we have food and shelter, we will be satisfied with that.” 1 Timothy 6:8 NET
Sometimes, what we refer to as “lack” and poverty is not really lack; it’s just that we are unsatisfied with what we have and desire more.
People tie their happiness to “things”, but a person’s life doesn’t consist in the abundance of things that they own! You don’t need to have a car to be happy; you don’t need to work in an oil company to be happy; you don’t need to school in the best school to be happy; and you don’t need to own a house to be happy!
We put unnecessary pressure on ourselves sometimes. It’s okay to desire more for ourselves, but whether we do get them or not should not affect our mood! We need to stop comparing ourselves with other people. We need to stop measuring our progress with the wrong yardsticks. We need to be grateful for whatever we’ve got and quit complaining!
The truth is that some of us are richer than we may ever want to admit – we actually have much more than we need: some of us have shoes and clothes we’ve not worn for months! You see? Come on; be happy!
