Your Best For His Best
“Then Peter answered and said to Him, ‘See, we have left all and followed You. Therefore what shall we have?’” Matthew 19:27 NKJV
A young rich man met Jesus and asked, “Good Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?” Jesus said to him, “If you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.” Jesus said that because they were still under the Old Covenant at that time.
The man said to Jesus, “All these things I have kept from my youth. What do I still lack?” Jesus said to him, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.” Hmm, what Jesus asked the young man to do was incredible! He couldn’t do it, he had great possessions, so he walked away. Jesus said to the disciples, “Assuredly, I say to you that it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.”
Peter said to Jesus, “See, we have left all and followed You. Therefore what shall we have?” Jesus said to them, “Assuredly I say to you, that in the regeneration, when the Son of Man sits on the throne of His glory, you who have followed Me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life.”
Brothers and sisters, nothing is too much to sacrifice for Jesus, no price is too great to pay. For everything you give up for Him, there’s a reward. Let Him be your first love; let Him be your topmost priority; follow Him with all your heart, withholding nothing. If you give Him your best, He will give you His best; and His best is much better.
