A Holy Nation; The Bride Of God
“Then they made the plate of the holy crown of pure gold, and wrote on it an inscription like the engraving of a signet: Holiness To The Lord.” Exodus 39:30 NKJV
1 Peter 2:9 says that we are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s own special people, that we may proclaim the praises of Him who called us out of darkness into His marvelous light.
A lot of us don’t understand what it means to be holy to the Lord. It’s more than just being “set apart from sin”; Isaiah 62:12 reveals more: “They will be called ‘The Holy People’ and ‘The People Redeemed by the Lord.’ And Jerusalem will be known as ‘The Desirable Place’ and ‘The City No Longer Forsaken.'” Here’s what verses 4 and 5 says, “Never again will you be called ‘The Forsaken City’ or ‘The Desolate Land.’ Your new name will be ‘The City of God’s Delight’ and ‘The Bride of God,’ for the Lord delights in you and will claim you as his bride. Your children will commit themselves to you, O Jerusalem, just as a young man commits himself to his bride. Then God will rejoice over you as a bridegroom rejoices over his bride.”
Being a holy nation means that we are a people who God rejoices over; a desirable people! We are a people of God’s delight; His bride! God purchased us for Himself by the blood of Jesus to be a people He will lavish His love on! And the scripture says that He is committed to us! What an awesome privilege it is to be holy to the Lord! Never again should you feel forsaken and abandoned; never again should you feel worthless and unwanted; no man or woman can ever love you as much as God does; you belong to Him and He loves you dearly! Hallelujah!
