Don’t Be A Reckless Talker
“Do not allow your speech to cause you to sin, and do not say before the messenger (priest) of God that it was a mistake. Why should God be angry because of your voice (words) and destroy the work of your hands?”
Ecclesiastes 5:6 AMP
A reckless talker has or shows no regard for danger or consequences. He just talks anyhow, says anything at all, makes promises that he doesn’t intend to, or do not end up keeping. You can do it to people and get away with it, but be careful when you make promises to God!
Which persons does God have respect for? Psalm 15:4 says it’s the persons who keep their promises even when it hurts. That’s strong. You don’t say, “Oh, I thought it would be better”; “What I was expecting didn’t come”; “I will do it later when I have more than enough”: that’s dangerous! Keep your words, especially to God, even though its inconvenient; even though it hurts! I said it’s dangerous! The Bible says it could make God destroy the works of your hands; what you’ve achieved!
Some of us need to be asking for mercy right now; and some others need to hurry and fulfil their promises. The Scripture says, “Do not be rash with your mouth, and let not your heart utter anything hastily before God. For God is in heaven, and you on earth; therefore let your words be few. When you make a vow to God, do not delay to pay it; for He has no pleasure in fools. Pay what you have vowed— better not to vow than to vow and not pay.” Say this: I will not be a reckless talker anymore, in Jesus name. Amen.
