Remembering His Words
“And they remembered His words.” Luke 24:8 NKJV
Is it not interesting that the very people who were always with Jesus, with whom He even spoke with just a few days before He was crucified, forgot His words? How could they have forgotten those very important words of the Master? Or were they overcome by the pain of losing Him?
But aren’t we all guilty of the same thing? I remember those days in Sunday School, students being unable to recite memory verses shortly after they are taught. That’s why it’s good to write. And thank God that we have the written word of God with us, so that we can always go back to it and read what it says.
Hebrews 2:1 says, “Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.” The New King James Version says, “Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away.” You see, when we forget His words there’s a more important risk; the risk of us drifting away. We will not drift away in Jesus name. Amen.
