Change, In Twenty Four Hours
Psalm 127.1 “Unless the Lord builds the house, they labour in vain who build it; unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.”
We put our trust in our governments, hoping that they will make life better for us; we put our trust in our security agencies hoping that they will make our countries safer; we change governments; we talk a lot, so many analysts, so many critics; we hope of better days, we dream of brighter futures, we earnestly desire change.
I don’t care what we choose to call ourselves, a Christian or Muslim country, one thing is sure, that only God can build our nation; and until you and I, believers, devote our times to seeking the intervention of God in our affairs, we may achieve little growths here and there, but becoming the country of our dreams will only be a dream. No doubt, the country needs healing; not only Nigeria, many, if not all, are in dire need of healing; all God needs is a sincere invitation: ”If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
There was a terrible famine in Samaria, things were so expensive; it was so bad that people began to eat their own children! Even the king was clueless at that point, but he knew that there was a man in his kingdom who could do something about their current situation; Elisha: and Elisha prophesied, “Hear the word of the Lord. Thus says the Lord: ‘Tomorrow about this time a seah of fine flour shall be sold for a shekel, and two seahs of barley for a shekel, at the gate of Samaria.’” God didn’t need a month or a week, just 24 hours! Hallelujah!
