Still Green

Jer.17.7-8. “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when heat comes; but its leaf will be green, and will not be anxious in the year of drought, nor will cease from yielding fruit.”

The Scripture above is about the man or woman who trusts in the Lord, and hopes in Him alone. Verse 5 & 6 of the same book and chapter says, “Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart departs from the Lord. For he shall be like a shrub in the desert, and shall not see when good comes, but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land which is not inhabited.”

I’m aware that things are a bit difficult for the average man right now; at times like this we must remind ourselves of the need to put our trust in God. This is actually a very good time to taste and see the goodness of God!

You are not meant to be subject to the same experiences with others! Read that verse again, it says that we will not fear when heat comes; that even when the heat comes our leaves will still be green! It says that we will not be anxious in the year of drought, and that we will not cease from yielding fruit! In the time of famine, Isaac sowed his seeds, and reaped in the same year a hundredfold; and the Lord blessed him. In the time of famine, he began to prosper, and continued prospering until he became very prosperous! Hallelujah!

Irrespective of what’s going on in my country, though salaries have not been paid, though there’s fuel scarcity, though there’s no light, though there’s inflation, my trust is in God, therefore I am like a tree planted by the waters, I refuse to fear, I will not be anxious, my God shall supply all my needs, He is my Shepherd, I shall not want!
